Program Operations, Schedule, and Staffing

Both Sunnycrest and Wildwood offer programming in Summer, Fall, and Spring that is open to all students that want to participate.

The program at Sunnycrest focuses on building students’ skills and knowledge in reading and math, and positive mindsets. This 2020-21 program included:

  • Summer session for 4 days per week, 1 hour per day
  • Fall and Spring sessions for 4 days per week, with 30 minutes before school and 1 hour after school

The program at Wildwood focuses on building students’ skills and knowledge in reading and science, and providing social emotional support. The 2020-21 program included:

  • Summer session for 5 days per week, 3 hours per day
  • Fall session for 4 days per week, 1.25 hours after school
  • Spring session for 4 days per week, with 30 minutes before school and 2.25 hours after school

Both sites have paid and volunteer staff, including site administrators, community members, school day teachers and other non-teaching school day staff, parents, college students, and subcontracted staff. This year, consistent staffing was a source of comfort for students as well as Site Coordinators. At Sunnycrest, a program intern who graduated from their program continued to support the virtual program beyond their internship. At Wildwood, staff were navigating a school building transition as they moved from a temporary space into the new permanent space, and didn’t have access to the building or program supplies during this two-month transition period.
