Family Engagement

During the second year of the grant, each of the sites offered a variety of family activities for program participants and their families. Mill Creek offered seven family events and Neely-O’Brien and River Ridge each offered five family events. These counts included hosting events specific to the 21st CCLC program and participation in schoolwide events such as:

  • Cultural Celebrations: Multicultural Night
  • School Engagement: Dual Language Night
  • Recreation: Musical Performances
  • Program Celebrations: Monthly Student Celebration, End of Year Celebration

All school sites offered a variety of family events during the second year of the grant (between five and seven events).

The site coordinator at Neely-O’Brien created a parent committee that brought together families to discuss important themes, develop ideas for family events, and share cultural traditions with program staff. The committee aimed to establish a strong sense of community and collaboration between families and staff.

Table 3 contains more specific details for the 21st CCLC sites’ family events.
